WebRTC

ForgeVis supports browser playback through WebRTC and provides test pages for quick validation.

WHEP Playback Endpoint

To start playback for a camera, send an SDP offer to:

POST /{camera_id}/whep

Requirements:

  • Request body: raw SDP offer
  • Header: Content-Type: application/sdp

On success, ForgeVis returns:

  • HTTP 201 Created
  • SDP answer in response body
  • session metadata in headers (including Location)

To close session:

DELETE /{camera_id}/whep/{session_id}

WebRTC Session Management API

Management API includes WebRTC session endpoints:

  • GET /api/webrtc/sessions - list active sessions
  • GET /api/webrtc/sessions/{session_id} - get one session
  • DELETE /api/webrtc/sessions/{session_id} - force close session

If WebRTC is disabled, endpoints return 503 Service Unavailable.

Browser Test Pages

Packaged test pages are available as top-level HTML pages:

  • /webrtc-test.html
  • /webrtc-test-ptz.html

Use them to quickly validate signaling, media flow, and camera control from a browser.

Troubleshooting

  1. Verify webrtc.enabled: true.
  2. Ensure your client sends Content-Type: application/sdp.
  3. Check camera stream is accessible and running.
  4. For remote/NAT setups, configure ICE/TURN in webrtc.iceServers2.
