Branding

The platform can carry your name. The name, colour, logos, icon and sign-in background are set in the Control Plane for the whole installation, and a tenant can set its own over them for its people. While nothing is set, the portals look like ForgeVis.

The platform and its tenants

  • The platform's look is set by a platform administrator in the Control Plane, under Branding. It applies everywhere: the Control Plane, the tenant portal, the sign-in pages and letters.
  • A tenant's look is set by the tenant's owner and admins in its portal, under Branding. It lies over the platform's and is seen by the tenant's own people only. Tenants are not branded from the Control Plane.

An empty field is inherited: a tenant's from the platform, the platform's from ForgeVis. The form says what an empty field shows instead; Reset by a field and Reset all go back to the inherited value. Changes are saved with one button, and the preview shows both themes at once.

The logos are inherited as a pair: once a tenant has a logo of its own, the platform's does not show up in the dark theme either — the tenant's does, until the tenant uploads a version for the dark theme.

Colour

There is one colour. The portals work out its shade for the dark theme and the colour of the text on buttons themselves, so everything reads: a dark navy gets lighter in the dark theme, and a pale yellow button gets dark text.

IconPNGup to 256 KBsquare, 512 × 512 px or larger
Sign-in backgroundJPEG, PNG or WebPup to 2 MB1920 × 1080 or larger

The format is told from the file itself, not from its name. SVG is not accepted: it is a document that can run scripts. Pictures are kept in the platform's database and go into its backups.

The sign-in page

  • /login is in the platform's look, /login/<slug> in the tenant's — that is where a tenant user's invitation leads. An unknown slug keeps the platform's look.
  • When the page carries someone else's name or logo, "Powered by ForgeVis" shows under the sign-in card.

Letters

The sign-in code and the invitation come in the look of the portal they lead to: a tenant's person gets the tenant's, the platform's people the platform's. The letter says the installation's name instead of ForgeVis, carries its logo at the top and its colour on the button. With a name and no logo, the name heads the letter.

The app on a phone

The tenant portal installs on a phone as an app — named like the tenant, with its icon and colour. It is installed from the tenant's sign-in page or after signing in. On Android and in Chrome on a computer, an installed app follows a change of look by itself — its name and icon once the user agrees. On an iPhone or iPad, the name and icon are taken when the app is added to the Home Screen.

The portals are served in their look from the start: the tab while the page loads and the preview of a link in a messenger show the installation's name, not ForgeVis.

Support and About

  • The platform sets the support e-mail and page in the Control Plane, so its tenants know where to turn. A tenant can set its own contacts for its people.
  • The account menu has About: the name and logo, the portal and its version, the support contacts. The tenant portal also has Support: it opens the support page, or a letter to the support e-mail when there is no page.

What the installation needs

No settings of its own. If a proxy of your own stands in front of the portals, it has to let requests of up to 5 MB through: saving a look with a sign-in background takes up to three megabytes. nginx stops at 1 MB by default — raise it for the portals' addresses:

nginx

Proprietary software.
